Thick, scaly patches on the elbows, knees or scalp, flaking that makes you self-conscious, or a flare that follows a stressful month: psoriasis is long-term, and people want more than another prescription. Preeti Gupta at Minute Wonder Ayurveda in San Ramon supports food, routine and calm alongside your dermatologist.
Preeti does not diagnose pathological conditions from a Western perspective, so her work sits alongside the care of your physician and never replaces it.
What Ayurveda looks at
Ayurveda often reads dry, scaly skin as dryness (vata) together with a build-up of ama, the residue of weak digestion. Preeti looks at:
The stress pattern: flares that follow poor sleep, travel or a hard stretch at work.
Digestion and ama, the residue Ayurveda points to when digestion is weak.
Dryness: hot showers, little oil in the diet, and what goes on the patches.
What a First Visit covers
A First Visit is 90 minutes ($250). Preeti reviews your daily routine, diet, digestion, exercise and sleep, using a health history, pulse analysis and tongue diagnosis. For psoriasis, expect time on:
When it began, what it looks like now, and what your dermatologist has tried.
Your medicines, including biologics and topical steroids, which Preeti notes and does not change.
A food plan to start with and a calm, regular routine through the week.
You leave with a written diet, herbal and lifestyle plan. Follow-ups are $125 for 60 minutes. See pricing.
What you can start this week
Two dishes from her recipe pages:
Snake gourd (patola). Her page describes snake gourd as bitter and cleansing, and tridoshic.
Round gourd (tinda). Her page calls round gourd cooling and light, and says it eases digestion.
See your physician first if
Before any scalp oil: Preeti's hair-care post asks people with psoriasis to check with their provider first.
Painful, swollen or stiff joints along with skin patches, which can signal psoriatic arthritis.
Widespread redness, pus, fever, or a flare that spreads quickly.
Common questions about psoriasis
Will Ayurveda make psoriasis go away?
Preeti makes no promise of any result. Psoriasis is long-term and managed by your dermatologist. Her aim is to support digestion, stress and daily habits around it, and lasting change usually comes over months.
Which of my medicines will she change?
None. She notes them and plans around them. Tell her about topical steroids, light therapy and any biologic.
Is stress really connected?
Many people notice flares in stressful periods, and Ayurveda looks at sleep, stress and digestion together. Preeti works on routines you can keep, and a simple diary helps you see your own patterns.
