A number that will not shift, weight that crept on after a pregnancy, a move or a stressful year, or diets that never fit your life: weight is rarely only about willpower. Preeti Gupta at Minute Wonder Ayurveda in San Ramon supports healthy habits alongside your physician's care, and makes no promises about weight.
Preeti does not diagnose pathological conditions from a Western perspective, so her work sits alongside the care of your physician and never replaces it.
What Ayurveda looks at
Ayurveda links weight to agni, the digestive fire, and to kapha, the dosha of structure and heaviness. Preeti looks at:
How you eat: pace, portions, snacking, and whether the biggest meal falls when digestion is strongest.
Movement and sleep, since Ayurveda counts both in digestion.
How you feel after eating: heavy, sleepy and sluggish, or satisfied and light.
What a First Visit covers
A First Visit is 90 minutes ($250). Preeti reviews your daily routine, diet, digestion, exercise and sleep, using a health history, pulse analysis and tongue diagnosis. For weight, expect time on:
Your weight history and what you have tried, without judgement.
A food diary with times, and a picture of your week of activity.
A plan built around your constitution that you can keep, with one or two changes at a time.
You leave with a written diet, herbal and lifestyle plan. Follow-ups are $125 for 60 minutes. See pricing.
What you can start this week
Two recipes from her pages:
Barley drink (jau ke sattu). Her page notes that barley's fibre keeps you feeling full, which can assist with weight management. Skip it with gluten sensitivity.
Cauliflower (masala gobhi). Her page calls cauliflower light to digest, and balancing for kapha when cooked with spices.
See your physician first if
Unexplained weight gain or loss, or swelling in the legs.
Excess thirst, frequent urination or blurred vision.
Any change in eating while you take medicine for diabetes, blood pressure or cholesterol.
Common questions about weight
Will Preeti put me on a diet?
She builds a plan, not a crash diet. It covers what, how and when you eat, plus routine and movement, and it is meant to be kept.
How much weight will I lose?
She does not promise a number. Many clients report feeling a difference within weeks, and lasting change usually comes over months.
What about my thyroid or PCOS?
Both are medical diagnoses managed by your physician. Tell Preeti about them and keep your doctor informed of any change you make.
