Hot flashes that wake you, mood that swings without warning, sleep that has turned light, or a body that no longer behaves as it did: menopause arrives differently for each woman. Preeti Gupta at Minute Wonder Ayurveda in San Ramon lists menopausal issues among the concerns she works with, alongside your physician.
Preeti does not diagnose pathological conditions from a Western perspective, so her work sits alongside the care of your physician and never replaces it.
What Ayurveda looks at
Ayurveda sees these years as a shift toward vata, with dryness and unsteadiness, and hot flashes as extra pitta heat. Preeti looks at:
The pattern of hot flashes: time of day, food and drink before them, stress.
Sleep, which often turns light and early-waking in these years.
Dryness in skin, joints and mood, and how well you stay nourished and hydrated.
What a First Visit covers
A First Visit is 90 minutes ($250). Preeti reviews your daily routine, diet, digestion, exercise and sleep, using a health history, pulse analysis and tongue diagnosis. For menopause, expect time on:
Your symptoms in order of what bothers you most.
Any hormone therapy or other medicines. Preeti notes them and does not change them.
Cooling food, steady meals, and calming bodywork such as Abhyanga or Shirodhara.
You leave with a written diet, herbal and lifestyle plan. Follow-ups are $125 for 60 minutes. See pricing.
What you can start this week
Two cooling recipes from her pages:

Coconut chutney. Her page describes coconut as cooling and nourishing for pitta.
See your physician first if
Any bleeding after menopause.
Chest pain, a racing heart, or shortness of breath.
Mood so low that daily life suffers, or any thought of harming yourself. Call or text 988.
Common questions about menopause
Can Ayurveda replace hormone therapy?
No. Preeti does not replace or adjust hormone therapy. If you use it, tell her, and keep your physician in the loop on everything you add.
What does Ayurveda suggest for hot flashes?
Cooling, regular meals, less of what heats you (spicy food, alcohol, late nights) and calming routines are the usual starting points. Preeti tailors them to you and makes no promises.
Is it all right to start during perimenopause?
Yes. Her About page lists menopausal issues, including hot flashes and mood swings, and hormonal issues in women and teens among the concerns she works with.
