Cycles that arrive every few months, acne along the jaw, weight that stays put, or a diagnosis you are still making sense of: PCOS touches hormones, metabolism and mood. Preeti Gupta at Minute Wonder Ayurveda in San Ramon supports food, sleep and routine alongside the care of your physician or gynecologist.
Preeti does not diagnose pathological conditions from a Western perspective, so her work sits alongside the care of your physician and never replaces it.
What Ayurveda looks at
Ayurveda does not use the word PCOS. It looks at digestion, metabolism and the balance of the doshas, often noting kapha heaviness and slow agni. Preeti looks at:
Meal timing, content and size, and how steady your energy is between meals.
Sleep, stress and movement, which shape hormones and appetite.
Cycle history: how long, how regular, and how heavy or painful.
What a First Visit covers
A First Visit is 90 minutes ($250). Preeti reviews your daily routine, diet, digestion, exercise and sleep, using a health history, pulse analysis and tongue diagnosis. For PCOS, expect time on:
Your diagnosis, the tests your physician has run, and any medicines or supplements.
A food diary with times, plus your sleep and activity.
One or two changes to start with, so you can see what is working.
You leave with a written diet, herbal and lifestyle plan. Follow-ups are $125 for 60 minutes. See pricing.
What you can start this week
Two plain, easy-to-digest dishes from her recipe pages:
Mung bean dal. Her page says mung beans are easy to digest when cooked with ghee and cumin or coriander.
Vegetable soup. Seasonal vegetables with ginger and garlic. Her page calls vegetable soup sattvic and nourishing.
See your physician first if
Missed periods when you could be pregnant, or very heavy bleeding.
Severe pelvic pain, or pain with fever.
Before stopping birth control, metformin or any hormonal medicine.
Common questions about PCOS
Do I need a diagnosis before I come?
It helps. PCOS is diagnosed and monitored by a physician. Bring your results to your First Visit; Preeti does not diagnose it or track lab values.
Will Preeti ask me to change my medication?
No. She plans around your medicines and asks you to keep your doctor informed of any diet or herb changes.
Can I still try for a baby?
If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, tell Preeti before any therapy is booked. Basti and Panchakarma are generally avoided in pregnancy, and your obstetrician guides the rest.
